Horseless Carriage Club of America
Board of Directors
Vice President: Jim Boyden
Personal Background:
I grew up in Northern California, attending UC Berkeley receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering and a commission in the USAF. After an Air Force tour in Sacramento, I went to work for General Electric in San Jose as a professional Nuclear and Mechanical Engineer. I am still there on a part time basis.
Horseless Carriage Background
Back in my high school days my first old car was a 1924 Model T Truck. I traded its frame for a Ruckstell rear end and used it in the restoration of a 1924 Model T Fordor Sedan. But, my real dream was to own a brass era Model T. I finally was able to buy an unrestored but authentic 1910 Model T Touring from the Harrah collection dispersal auction in 1971. My wife Jean and I have toured this car extensively including two round trips from San Jose to Yosemite and other National Model T Club and Horseless Carriage Club tours. Recently I bought an unrestored but running original 1913 Oakland Touring and a 1908 Model S Ford project.
In recent years we have become more active in the Santa Clara Valley Regional Group and participated in several HCCA National Tours. I love this hobby and appreciate the honor of serving on the National Board.
