Gunnison
Tour
A Pre-16 Event
In Gunnison, Colorado
July 21- July 25, 2008

Join us for five (Mon-Fri) laid-back days of touring a region known
as The Gunnison Territory.
Highlights Include:
- Located Southeast of Grand Junction on Hwy 50, the pet-friendly
Water Wheel Inn will serve as headquarters. Make your reservation by
calling 1-800-642-1650. Arrive Sunday and depart Saturday. Rate is
$79 + tax.
- The KOA Campground with a full range of hookups is just one
mile down the road. Call 1-800-562-1248.

- Four tour days will average 60-100 mile routes. There will be one
short day, mid-week, with only 20 miles.
- All tour routes are on designated Colorado Scenic/Historic Byways.
Paved roads with some hills to climb. Most follow along side the
rivers which make up the headwaters of the Gunnison River. Grades
are gentle.
- Includes opening outdoor BBQ, Sunday, July 20th from 6 - 8 pm at
the Water Wheel Inn. (bring a lawn chair)
- Tour to Crested Butte, Colorado's largest historic district and
fastest growing ski area. With Town Center reserved for our cars, we
will have plenty of time to see the shops & visit with old
friends. Lunch on your own.
- Includes a guided tour of the Morrow Point Dam &
hydro-electric generation facility. Box lunch provided.
- Tour along the Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. What a
view!
- Tour along the 40 mile shoreline of Blue Mesa, Colorado's largest
lake.
- Dinner buffet provided on the deck at Pappy's Restaurant, located
at the marina on Blue Mesa Lake.
- Included is a short, scenic, nature float trip on the calm waters
of Gunnison River by professional guides. (You may upgrade your
experience to class-3 white water, guided fishing, or 18 holes of
golf if you'd like to)
- Tour along the Taylor River Canyon. Lunch provided at Taylor Park
followed by a scenic pontoon boat excursion of Taylor Park Lake,
overlooking the West Elk & Maroon Bells Wilderness Areas.
- Tour the Silver Thread Highway to Lake City. Home to the famous
Alfred Packer. We will tell you all about him later. A guided
walking tour, museum & lunch are provided in this historic old
mining town.
- A final closing BBQ Friday, July 25th from 6 - 8 pm at the Water
Wheel Inn. (Bring a lawn chair again)
- Jerry & Linda Kaiser will provide service vehicle support for
all tour participants during the week.
- Antique clothing is encouraged but not required.
- A fun-filled event with a limit of 40 cars, so sign up early!
