- This
five day Register Tour is planned to be the quality and
scope of a HCCA National Tour with driving of the cars
everyday on country roads. This tour is open to members of HCCA whose automobiles used on
the tour fall into the requirements of the Nickel Era
Register. (Nickel Era cars 1912-1929).
- Headquartered
in the Historic Amana Colonies of Iowa
- Easy
to get to on Interstate 80 but you can get to it on state and
country roads.
- Reasonably
priced accommodations for tourists, which include old
Amana Motel, Several Bed and Breakfast Inns, the RV Park and
Event Center or even a Holiday Inn and others on Interstate
80. Ample parking for tow vehicles, RV’s and trailers.
- Tour
itinerary includes: historic areas, Amana family style
meals, “Old World” craftsmanship, quaint shops, woolen
mill, museums, and antique shops. Also included in the tour is
peaceful and leisurely country side driving through the
heartland on hard surfaced country roads. Kalona Amish area
and museum, a farm tour and hog operation, Herbert Hoover
Presidential Library, a Mississippi cruise, and tours of
private automobile collections and manufacturing operations
are also included. This
is a driving tour which includes some 100 plus mile days
through rolling hills.
- Children on NETR tours are encouraged. The
countryside should be very green, corn will be knee high and
soybeans will be starting to appear. Weather should be warm
and rain is certainly possible but not for long periods. Family
farms, the rural life, tractors on the road, cattle, sheep and
hogs will be seen along the way. Deer, Raccoons, pheasants and
other wildlife are also present in the area.
