The South Michigan Motorists Chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America and the Snapper's Brass & Gas Touring Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America invite you to participate in the 27th running of the Lansing to Dearborn Run. This run will feature uncongested country roads, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere. It is scheduled to precede the Old Car Festival at The Henry Ford. (Note: For information or applications for the Old Car Festival, contact Jim Johnson at 313-982-6047 or jimj@thehenryford.org. The OCF requires pre-registration for its participants. "The Henry Ford" web site is http://www.TheHenryFord.org) Eligibility All pre-1909 vehicles (steam, electric, gasoline automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles) are welcome. This year increased eligibility includes any pre-1920, four-cylinder or less vehicles rated less than 20 h.p. [Ford Model T participation may be limited.] (If you have a question about eligibility, please contact the run organizers.) Schedule Thursday, Sept. 4: We will leave from The Henry Ford at 8:00 a.m. and travel approximately 100 miles to the Holiday Inn Express outside Lansing. We will have an outdoor dinner with the group ($11.50 per person). (We'll move indoors in the case of bad weather.) Friday, Sept. 5: The return trip will leave the Holiday Inn Express at 7:00 a.m. and travel 100 miles (Official Wheelmen Century for bicyclists) to Dearborn to allow participation in the Old Car Festival on the weekend. Saturday, Sept. 6: The traditional Pizza Party has been added to the registration form, or you may pay in person. Please note the run participants' discount. Logistics & Accommodations Trailer parking will be available at the Henry Ford starting Wednesday night after 5:00 p.m. in a predetermined pattern. If you arrive early, you may be required to re-park. Overnight arrangements for Wednesday and the weekend are on your own. A listing of local hotels has been available at www.TheHenryFord.org. (You can also contact the Graces for hotel info.) Our host hotel for Thursday night will be the Holiday Inn Express in Okemos, MI, which is holding a block of rooms for us. You must make your own reservations at 517-349-8700. Mention the Lansing to Dearborn Run (LDR) when making reservations. Room rates are $79 + tax for double occupancy. Covered parking is not available at the Holiday Inn Express, so you may want to bring a tarp, but we have made arrangements with the nearby dealership for inside parking like past years. Trailer parking is available at the Holiday Inn Express for those who plan to tour on Friday only, however, you are on your own for transport. Registration & Fees The registration fee is $15.00 per vehicle and all occupants. Dinner on Thursday including hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, and vegetarian selections is available at $11.50 per person. The Saturday Pizza Party is $1 per person. All other meals are on your own. The registration deadline is August 25, 2008. Please note, the State of Michigan requires that registration and proof of insurance be with the car while driving.
