“Automotive History Celebration coming in 2016”
In 2016, the State of Indiana will celebrate its bicentennial. The Kokomo Automotive Museum will spotlight the Hoosier State’s contribution to the motoring world with a weeklong event entitled “Kokomo Salutes Indiana’s Automotive Heritage 1894-1964.” Running September 5-11, 2016 the celebration will include two driving tours, a reunion of Kokomo-built Haynes and Apperson automobiles, a Classic Car Club of America Grand Classic, and the “Indiana Bicentennial Concours d’elegance.” For more information, contact the Kokomo Automotive Museum at 765-454-9999. The museum is located at 1500 North Reed Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46901.
The Brass and Nickel Eras were the highwater point of Indiana auto production. To make this celebration a success, we need your help. The first priority is to obtain 50 Haynes, Haynes-Apperson, and Apperson cars for the Haynes-Apperson reunion. This would be the largest assembly of these cars since 1925-26.
The "Indiana Bicentennial Concours d'elegance" will be a great venue to display some extremely rare cars. Over 150 different makes of cars were built in Indiana, and it would be fantastic to see many of these rare cars at the concours. For more information, e-mail Jeff Shively at Cad19651941@yahoo.com
